Paola

I am saddened to report that little Paola passed away Friday night. We received the news at 5:20 a.m. on Saturday. Her older brother Junior called us to let us know and to ask for help. Rolando was getting ready to leave for Nicaragua with my dad and Dylon when we got the call. I was able to go and sit with Mercedes (Paola's mom) at the hospital. They do things differently here. They do not embalm here so you have a 24 hour window to burry people here. At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, they released her body and it was taken to their humble home for a wake. It was very hard for the family, especially little 5 year old Angel. When Karol (a friend who helps with the feeding program) and I brought flowers and food to their house, Angel asked us if it was for a birthday party for Paola. Once the casket arrived the mom asked Karol and I to explain things to Angel. It was very hard, he could not understand. Angel asked if Paola could breathe in the casket. We tried to explain to him that since Paola had Jesus in her heart that she was in heaven. He was very concerned that she would not be able to drink water if she was in the casket. Last Saturday Paola was at the feeding program with us and this Saturday we were at her funeral. Please continue to pray for the Vargas family as they are faced with this terribly sad time
